Categories are used to group the products you have available on your site. This will make it easier for the user to select.
Categories need to be set up before the products will show on your site.
A product will only display if it belongs to a category, and a category will only display if it has one or more products assigned to it. Current categories are viewed and edited in the category screen (above).

Create a New Category

To add Categories, follow these steps in the categories screen:

1. Select New Field
2. Select the created at the bottom of the list by clicking on it in the field window (scroll down the field list window if you cannot see the bottom of the list)
3. Give the new Category an Item name in the Item box.
   • This simply means give your category a name. This may be something like ‘Bedroom Furniture’ or ‘Menswear’
4. Give the Category a description if required
5. Select Hidden if you do not want the category or its associated products to show on the site.
   • Using the hidden box means you can set up your category and associated products for sale in advance, but hide the category until you are ready to go-live with the display on the website.
6. Select Apply to create the Category

Edit / Delete an Existing Category

To edit a category, select the category in the window, and follow steps 3-5 above

The arrow buttons at the bottom of the screen will move category items up or down the order. You need to select a category by clicking on the category name in the field window before the category can be moved.

To delete a category select the category required in the field window and select delete.

Please note that sub-categories do not currently exist but are planned for future development. As a substitute, you can use the ‘brand’ box in the product details section as a sub-category replacement.

Ensure that you have the correct product selected and select delete button to remove that item off the database.
